Message to Guests

Limited accommodation is available at Outback Astronomy.

One glamping tent is permanently set up and ready for use.

We also have an area for a one camp site for a tent or swags.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, our accommodation options are closed to the travelling public.

However, you may be an essential worker who is required to travel. If you seek this type of accommodation whilst on the road, please enquire on phone 0427 055 225.

We look forward to welcoming all guests on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic. Until then, stay safe and well. Happy holiday planning.

Feel welcome in the interim to pencil in a booking when restrictions are lifted in the future. Please contact us on 0427 055 225 to discuss and make that tentative booking. We will not take deposits until it is clear restrictions will be lifted for your travel.

Glamping

There is only one glamping tent at Outback Astronomy.

We expect you will be keen to participate in stargazing. We have included a voucher for your use. You may use it on the night of your stay if a sky show proceeds, or take it with you and use at a later date (or pass it over to a friend to use – if so, conditions apply^^).

The tent contains all bedding, linen, bath and pool towels. It is a sturdy glamping tent complete with sun deck. This location is shady from midday onwards – the perfect place to do some birdwatching and observe local kangaroos wander in to drink at nearby water containers. You may also like to walk about the nearby countryside.

The glamping tent is powered and contains a small fridge stocked with bottled water, electric fan and electric blanket. There is a gas barbecue and outdoor setting nearby. Deck setting includes upright camp chairs or reclined lounges.

Outback Astronomy’s Sky Dome Café stocks BBQ packs for glampers who may like to cook their own meals. If you prefer, and by prior arrangement, we can cook for you exclusively on our sky dome provided it is available on the evening. The café can prepare takeaway lunch packs for the next segment of your road trip.

A maximum of two persons can be accommodated as the tent has one queen size bed.

  • Short walk to amenities
  • Keyed, exclusive access to your shower and toilet
  • Loan of binoculars for stargazing
  • Loan of portable lighting items for your stay (torch, headlamp, lantern)
  • Voucher to attend a sky show if one proceeds ($20 per person reduction)
  • Ideal location for stargazing and imaging
  • Fully fenced, secure location
  • 10 minute drive from Broken Hill

No pets allowed due to native wildlife in the area.

Nearby road and rail traffic is unpredictable, and infrequent. However, if you are awoken in the wee small hours of the morning, take the opportunity to go out and gaze with the binoculars supplied. It is a spectacular view that will overwhelm your senses.

This is a great introduction to glamping and stargazing in the outback.

In addition to this glamping pack, when you commence the booking process there are options to glamp it up further. You may purchase a Glamping Luxury Pack for one or two persons. This pack includes bathrobe and slippers, complimentary drinks and nibbles, continental breakfast and if you feel up to it and we are confident of no rain overnight, you may enjoy the loan of a powerful Dobsonian telescope to pursue private deep sky gazing overnight.
